Heat shrink tubing

Heat shrink tubing is a somewhat thin, flexible tube of polymer plastic - mostly PVC with a mix of polyester - which can be used as a solder for example - a soldered joint between two electric wires. There are different sizes (cross-section diameter) of heat shrink tubing available. After having cut a piece of shrink sleeve to size, slide it over the wires, contacts, mechanics or batteries to be insulated, protected or bundled. Now when the material is heated, it shrinks into one and closes tightly around the parts to be packed. This way it protects the contacts and the electronics against short circuit and movement wear, and - also a good reason to use it - it keeps your wires tightly bundled so that your project looks neat and neat.

Polyolefin

The plastic polyolefin contains no chlorine compounds, is lighter than PVC and can be completely reused. A large part of our range is made of polyolefin. The unique fabric structure of millions of continuous fibers, which together form a very dense layer, offers efficient protection against harmful particles.
Because polyolefin is biologically and chemically inert, the properties of the substance can not be affected by, for example, salts, acids or bases.
Polyolefin is water-repellent, antistatic, gamma-sterilizable and tear-resistant. Our shrink sleeves protect your cables etc etc ... against harmful effects of hazardous products and protect delicate cables against contamination with dust and other particles.

Heating of the heat shrink tubing

To shrink the stocking, it needs to be heated to a certain temperature. You can do this with:
a hair dryer on the hot stand, a paint stripper on the lowest setting, the flame of a lighter or gas burner (keep away from the flame, because direct contact of the flame gives too much heat and sorts material), a soldering iron.
and possibly boiling water (if it is not electrical materials), steam from a kettle (if it is not electrical materials).
In all cases distribute the heat evenly, otherwise the shrink sleeve will bubble and / or fray.
